In my first post about the Acell 8 pin HEI module I said how I connected it and my car ran like crap, so I had to pull off the side of the hiway and put the original one back on.
Car ran great again.

I called Holley because that’s who I bought it through.

First they transfered me to a Holley tech, and I explained the problem.
Then he transfer me to another person who answered as an MSD rep.

I told him the car ran so bad that I had to pull over and put the original module back on and the car ran perfect again.

The guy said I have to pay for the return and they will test it.
If it is faulty they will send a new one.

Sounds fairly normal so far, right?
I also told them that this module had no indication that it is an Acell part of any kind, even though the online ad has the big yellow sticker on it.
That’s fine if that’s normal.
I also told them that the packaging looked like it had been opened.

I can’t get over the feeling that someone returned their old one for a refund and that is what they shipped to me.

I’ll mail it back, but I’m not confident about it at all.

BTW, I don’t require that people I buy from be friendly, but just take care of business.
Good thing, because friendly was nowhere to be found.
Actually they acted like I was boring them.
No apology for my troubles, or even a thank you for shopping with them.

If those were my employees they would be looking for a new job.

Maybe my expectations of people are too high.

Nope, your expectations are realistic. I can't remember the last time I received even decent customer service. Most act like your bothering them just to do their job. It's rare just to find someone who actually knows much about cars at the auto parts stores! 65'

They Probably have a 400% markup on the part so cost is around 20-30$. Maybe … . Just ship a new part and thank you for your patience. It’s got to be obvious that you are familiar with ignitions and not some dupe that has 2 grounds hooked to it !

They went downhill. Buddy used to race with thier 4 pin. He went through 5 in one season. Tested them for him all had the same issue no high speed dwell. They do not want to hear it.

Did it look used? Any witness marks where it screws down or anything? Left over thermal paste or grease?

No indication at all.
But they might not honor it since the plastic locating pins are missing.

For our use those have to be removed.
Maybe they won’t know enough about it to notice.:D

Back when these brands we're tossing around (Accel, MSD, Holley…) were actual companies engineering and making their own stuff, with the makers speaking the same language as the engineers, feedback was relevant; it was "actionable", as the saying goes.

Now they're just zombie brands slapped on gumball-machine-grade trinkets from the People's Republic of Finest Quality and Strict Adherence to All Specifications, there is no incentive for anyone to bother listening to customer complaints. There's nothing they can, could, or will do about it, beyond (maybe) sending you another one just like the one that failed. This is one of the ugly realities of the race to the bottom.

That sucks .you pay shipping both ways. for bad order part. then their going to test and probably say its not our part you sent back. That would"nt surprise me one bit.

Actually I expect it to go that way.

As far as shipping goes, when I ordered a Classic Auto Air climate control system and the compressor was bad, they made me pay to ship that back.

Almost $2,400 for the unit itself Then $150 shipping, r134 twice, and about $25 to ship the bad compressor back.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice that it’s all done but damn.

What I hear about Holley in general, lately, I do not like. Bean counters. They recently closed down Hilborn. I guess they aren't smart enough to figure that even though every teen ager doesn't want a Hilborn setup, there still might be money to be made, AKA EFI + Hilborn= cool old hotrod.

If you're attempting to make me pay to ship your broken part back to you, we're never doing business again and I'm letting anyone within an ear shot of me know how much your company sucks.
