I removed the old bushings from my control arms this afternoon (had to cut most of them out), and when I opened my bushings to go back in, they look almost too big. I know they press in, is this something I can do on a vise? Also, once the old rubbers were out, I was left with a sort of "top hat" that the bushing went through on the control arm, it looks like they are part of the control arm, but the new bushings look like they have that little top hat shape built in. I already blew one thing up today, so I wasn't going to push my luck, any help is appreciated.
Thanks

well i guess you figuerd out the top hat is part of the bushing the old one has to go. i used a large pipe coupler with large washers on one end and a piece of 1/2 inch all thread to pull it into place. worked good

you can do it in a large vise as well. you just need a socket on one end for the bushing to go into wile your pressing it in.

So once the old bushings are out completely, all I should be left with is a hole in the control arm, no collar or tube(top hat)
That make the control arm almost seem flimsy on the bushing.

their would be an aprox .375 inch shoulder on the a arm (dont remember metric convershion) I will try to come up with some pitchers to help.

New Control arm (see the "top hat") does this come out?

The collar and face don't look like they come out, but I can't see the new bushing going in any other way...unless it is a very very tight interference fit.

Thank you very much, my top hat has got to go. That should make things much easier.
Thanks again Cudaman!
