Vacuum canister on early Barracudas

Please enlighten on what this canister purpose was and what years the were put on please, there is a discussion on one of our A Body Facebook pages and no one is sure other than it's a vacuum canister.

It was on early A cars with power brakes. They are plumbed to the brake booster.

Yes if equipped with power brakes. Also where the newer booster has a check valve at the inlet of the booster these didnt. They had a T on the booster and the check valve was at the intake.

Thanks again that covers it, we got several guys with no power brakes and car has this part.

I have never seen them on a car without power brakes but ya never know.

I'm thinking they may have had power or were added by P.O. or a mistake at the factory.
