vacuum canister

I have a 318 small block with a mopar electronic distributor, w/ vac advance, the cannister is too close to my air gap intake to adjust with an allen wrench. Ive seen pictures on the internet of a vacumm canister that has the hose pointing upward, Im thinking this would be to have room for adjustment? anyone know where I can get one, or if it would work? thanks.

Seems like the drive gear could be clocked a tooth or two, to move the dashpot position, to give the room for setting.

^That's right^. You can either walk the drive gear a tooth, or move the plug wires. The "thing is" not all Mopar / aftermarket distributors have the drive tang indexed the same as "original" and that adds to the fun.
