I own 65 valiant. Buddy of mine found a early (said 1965 ) valiant in the junkyard and knew I needed a horn ring. So he grabbed it and I picked it up later paid him what I thout was outrageous for junkyard prices.. took it home to find out its for a different wheel. The junk car had a turqoiuse 2spoke, and I have a black 3spoke. Would I have a wrong wheel, or did they make different ones or what? I have a 2 door, and donor car was a 4dr, is there a difference there?

The 3-spoke wheel is wrong for the early a-body car, that top wheel is correct. You should buy that wheel, it looks pretty good too. Although that wheel is common, it's very hard to find a decent one to restore.

I painted the wheel in my '64 with the same acrylic enamel I used for the dash, and it has held up very well. Your wheel color should also match the dash.

I disagree, mine has a woodgrain three spoke that came in a 1965 273 valiant wagon I scrapped about 15 years due to extreme rust. It even has a matching valiant "V" horn button. It doesn't have the 90 degree horn ring it has a single no ring button in the center of the wheel.

Looks just like this one I found in a google image search, but if he posted pictures of a different style of wheel I can't see the picture

Sorry, I should have said the 3 spoke one he has in HIS car is wrong....yes, 3-spoke woodgrain wheels were an option on the early-a cars :glasses7:

I like the two spoke wheel with the center horn button... ether should fit I believe

Mine turned out great, FISHYPETE did mine :thumleft:

I just got it back today, know to put it back on and take off the silly little wheel I have on it now :glasses7:

To the original question. It appears you have a steering wheel from a newer model year ('67 or newer). Most '64, '65 & '66 Valiants had the two spoke plastic wheel - these are difficult to find without cracks at the base of the spokes. The Valiant 100 models had a horn button without the horn ring (shown by me mike). The 200 & Signet versions had the same wheel but with a horn ring (shown in pic). Available as an option was the faux wood grain wheel, these have three metal spokes and ones in nice condition are about $200, mint ones more.

Any steering wheel for these cars that is usable is a good deal for $40!

I would grab more than the steering wheel. That cluster with tachometer is rare, and suggests it might even have a HiPo V-8 under the hood. The wiper parts are fairly rare, including switch, especially if 2-spd, and being a SoCal car probably like new.
