Hello everyone,

I Just wanted to check that I have this valley pan cover properly installed. When i got it the two metal straps were bent like they are. Should they stay like that? Then I just put my rods back in and tighten up the rockers?

Also, I have asking for alot of help, and do not believe I have put a picture of my car yet, so I added one for you to see...

Thanks again,

Shane

no, not like that or at least they didn't used to..extend the metal straps
until they hook just underneath the head on either side both front and back.
remember. once you do this you can't change a lifter without removing the intake and baffle...that need doesn't happen very often,(1 in 20 years) but just as sure as you install the baffle it may come up and your labor time is increased...also rotate the engine several times and check pushrod clearance
at EVERY hole or you will get a horendus skreeching noise upon startup...

Looks right to me.

Clearance the lifter holes and check the cover with force applied to it as if the intake is pushing it downward.

Who's that by? Mr. Gasket?

MrBill is right. You have to spread the straps and hook them underneath the edge of the heads. He's also right about not being able to change a lifter if needed with the baffle installed. It's a catch 22 really. The baffle has another benefit other than keeping hot oil off the bottom of the intake which is it keeps the lifters in the bore if a rocker arm breaks or pushrod bends bad. Without the baffle the lifter can pop right out and you have zero oil pressure and this usually occurs at high rpm so you know the rest. That's the only reason I run one. And wouldn't you know it I had lifter trouble 150 miles into the fresh rebuild so I had to pull the intake to replace the lifters instead of just fishing them out with a long magnet.:bootysha:

I am not sure who makes it, it was in a box beside the motor in the barn I bought the motor from...

Thanks for the help, I bent the straps under the heads, and it makes more sense that way, it seems like it will hold it in place. This is my first rebuild so I will keep my fingers crossed that my lifters wont have to be changed for a long long time...
