I had a little time on my hands today.
I thought about this design but I wanted something to replace valve springs with the heads on. I have to run a lighter spring during break in then change them after I dont want to pop the heads off just to change springsView attachment 1715503496 View attachment 1715503497
I chose a c-clamp instead of the f-clamp for a couple reasons. The first is that all my f-clamps are too expensive to sacrifice. The other is that I like the threaded rod to capture progress, as opposed to the friction/pressure that the f-clamps use.
Whatever works though, right?? Anything is better than those cheap spring compressors that fly off with the slightest bit of pressure.

I got to do some modifications to mine when I get the chance i have a million projects at once going lolThat’s a great point that I hadn’t thought of. I made the tool out of necessity during a complete rebuild, so the heads were already off. Looks like I’ll be following your design in the future if the opportunity presents itself!
Yea I gotta do the same on mine I'm gonna change the angle of the arms a little when the are fully depressed it holes the retainer at an extreme angleI had to modify mine a little to center the pressure closer to the center of the retainer. Actually it was kind of a lesson on rocker arm geometry
I like that 1Not home made, I forget where I pick this up from but I did notice it at Mancini racing. A little pricey if seldom used. Not a problem in this house... LOL
