Changed MOS as a E-5. Managed to pick the only Signal Corp MOS AIT at the time which was NOT at Ft Gordon. So a stay at Sill as a NIET (Non Initial Entry Trainee) TDY and return to Bragg. Me and the Drill Sergeants did not get along very well. The beret and bloused jump boots were, shall we say, unpopular.

I'm back to working on an Air Force Base at 62 years old. Love every minute of it...but it's Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach Florida !!!!

My dad did basic, AIT and duty at Ft. Sill in the late 50's. Didn't have anything nice to say about the place. He worked at fueling ICBM's.
I did my basic at Ft. Leonard Wood. They tell me it's a nice looking locale. I didn't get to see the nice part of it!
I was in 29 Palms in 1977 for MCCES. Talk about the middle of nowhere....

I volunteered for 3 years and started the process when I was 16. I was officially in the Army 4 days after turning 17. I had 30 days unused leave so I was still 19 when I returned home after my 3 year commitment. I was in from Feb 74 till Jan 77. Served at Fort Rucker Alabama as a construction engineer and then sent to Wildflecken Germany as a combat engineer.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay & Adventure Island offers Waves of Honor permits to any U.S. active duty military, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman to one complimentary admission per year to either SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, or Sesame Place for military personnel and as many as three direct dependents.
Cinemark offers discounts that vary upon participating locations or check out up to 20% off movie tickets through WeSalute+.
Disney World is offering special rates now through December 19, 2025 for military members. Choose between a 4-Day, 5-Day or 6-Day Disney Military Salute Ticket with the Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus option (formerly the Disney Military Promotional Ticket) for visits in 2025.
Legoland offers discounted and free tickets available for admission and sometimes lodging, which is also extended to military families.
National Parks provide current US military and dependents, Gold Star Families, and US military veterans free annual or lifetime passes, which cover entrance or standard amenity (day-use) fees at national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests, and other federal recreational lands - over 2,000 recreational areas.
Regal Cinemas offers discounts dependent on location that extends to military families. Military members and family can also receive up to 25% off with WeSalute+.

What Car Companies are Offering Discounts for Veterans Day?
Many major car companies are offering discounts ranging from $500 - $2000 on a purchase of new vehicles. We have sorted these discounts by dollar amount to easily show how much you can save if you are in the market for a new car.

MINI is offering $500-$1,000 off MSRP toward a new vehicle lease or purchase for Active Duty, Veterans, Retirees, Reservists, and their immediate family members.

Cadillac is offering a $1,000 military discount on most models.
BMW offers a discount of $500 to $5,000 toward a vehicle lease or purchase for members of the military and their spouses which you can check out here on their website.
What Hair Care Discounts are Available for Military & Veterans?
Sports Clips: On November 11th, participating Sport Clips locations will provide free haircuts to veterans and active duty service members as well as donate $2 for every paid haircut service provided on that day to the VFW’s "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" program.
