Fast Jack Beckman is one of the best funny car drivers in the business and his skills were on full display at the 2012 NHRA Finals in Pomona on Thursday as he suffered a nuclear level explosion on the top end of the track and managed to keep the car off the wall. He emerged from the car seemingly unharmed and raised his arms to let safety personnel know he was OK. This video was released by the NHRA on Thursday evening and it shows the boomer from multiple angles including in car, which is 100% wild. It looks like someone triggered a lump of C4 at about 1,000ft.
We’re glad that Jack is OK. This video is proof that large amounts of intestinal fortitude are required to drop the hammer on 8,000hp, especially when it is sitting in your lap and can do this on any given run.

Yeow, went from a funny car to a roadster real quick...:D. Didn't see any cylinders down, so must have broke something. Maybe a valve?
 
He made 'er look just like another day at the office
 
I was there today. Most of the funny car drivers were shutting down early. His was one of the full runs and it ended spectacularly in the traps.
 
HOLY CRAP!!! Is it just me or did anyone else notice him walking away afterword with a bit of a tight-sphinkter waddle to his step?! That was an incredible kaboom and luckily he came away unscathed!
