I'm trying to glue down a small area (1.5") of vinyl top edge above the windshield on a 70 Duster. Glass is out. I tried a couple times with Weldwood contact cement and it isn't holding. I tried gorilla glue as well. I heat up the vinyl and clamp it tight while it dries. Any ideas what else might work? Sorry, no pics.

Well, it should but it didn't. It is also difficult to get contact glue on both sides up there so I would like to use something I can push into the opening and clamp it shut. Thinking about some 5 minute epoxy. The other problem is there is contact glue residue in there.
I used special contact glue from a leather / convertible specialist. Problem is the high temperature in the sun. You must apply contact glue to both sides, let it dry until it doesn't sticks anymore, then put together in the right position.

Maybe push down, lift up so it can dry and push down again? It may not be holding because it's still wet.

Just ideas here. Clean good as said. You can apply to both surfaces and let it dry. Then a light coat to reactivate and stick if it's drying too fast.
