W2 360 build talk...

To put it in perspective.....
At 365”(+.030”, stock stroke)..... 600hp is just over 1.64hp/ci.
Which is like a.......
-521hp 318
-557hp 340
-628hp 383
-656hp 400
-731hp 446
-808hp 493
-828hp 505
-885hp 540
-938hp 572

Nothing I have built myself has quite reached 1.64hp/ci.
However we have had a few on the dyno that good, N/A....... but it doesn’t happen real often.

Pushing it hard, yes. I have spoken to one other guy that has done it similar to what I want to do. 604 HP on stock stroke. Just very big cam, good ported heads and a lot of compression

The best one I can think of that we’ve tested here was a 499” truck pulling engine.
Raptor heads, dry sump, single carb, not set up to be on “kill”....... 973hp. Just under 1.95hp/ci

I’ll be interested in watching your combo come together.

I think it can be done? my 340 has been 9.90 at 133.4 mph. 2800 lbs. must be close to the 550 hp

"9.96 @ 133 W2 340 Cubic Inch
Don’t need a 4” stroker or aluminum heads to run hard" I like that, good quote applying for this post

I’m still running ductile iron rockers and have had zero issues. Nothing fancy but gets the job done.

RatBastid, My launch rpm is set at 5000 and I shift at 6400. 416 cubes with 10.4 compression, IndyBrock heads, Bullet solid roller, Victor Jr intake, 1 7/8 headers, full 3 inch exhaust, and a Jerico DR4. Just a fun street beater that runs high 10's not real quick but fun to drive.

Now I forgot why I even asked that lol. I’ll have to read back a few posts to see what I was thinking.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with those rockers. In fact, if you could have had them in a 1.6 ratio I would have used them. They are way better than a lot of the other stuff out there.

i agree.
Zero reason good heads cant make 600 horse. W2 heads are more than capable if done well.
Compression, good machine work, parts that work together, why not.
Vic Bloomers stock stroke 340 has been mid 9’s with 1.88 valved factory iron heads at 2650-2700 pounds.
How would it run if he had fully ported a set of W2 heads?
Low 9’s..high 8’s?
