I've been playing with a set of door panels. They came from a `69 with the woodgrain inserts. I don't like woodgrain, but do like nice door panels. Sooooo..... I started playing.

Here's the unmolested original panels:

Now I purchase a roll of fake carbon fiber.... and before this turns into a gang rape, I was NOT looking for a "ricey" look here. Just something original. Besides, I wanted to hide the rear arm rest openings. I still have to cut the window handle openings.

I think it's understated enough that I won't catch a beating among my fellow car club members. And in a previous post you saw I was working on white gauge faces. Like I said in the topic, wadda ya think?

Thanks Guys! I'm also planning on trimming the dashboard too.

And that's it.... no light-up pedal covers or underdash neon... :puker:

You riced it up!!!!!!!!

J/K, looks clean, if the car is a nut and bolt resto I wouldn't worry about this.

Not bad! I will feel less guilty if I change up my dash area and headliner. I like the look of leather, but my wallet don't.

I bought a 6' roll for about $20 -odd dollars from e-Bay. Type in CARBON FIBER STICKER and shop. Here's an example:

On the front door panels I applied it directly over the woodgrain. In the rear I cut away everything on the panels down to the fiberboard because it was so badly wrinkled and glued the carbon fiber on with the backing to give it some strenght to cover the rear arm rest holes without creating depressions. The material when removed from the paper backing is quite thin and easy to work with. I burnished it down with a smooth wooden stick and trimed it with an xacto knife. Just make sure the pattern is level and not running up or down! It also comes in several different colors too!

I was thinking of doing the microwave oven next
