Got an unexpected suprise in the mail yesterday. Seems like the old owner of my dart found and sent me my cars factory window sticker. Said he had it when I bought the car but couldn't find it and I wrote it off. Well I now have it and noticed a couple of things.

1st thing is it does not have the cars color listed on it anywhere...sheet does not even have a space for it. Is that a 69 thing?

2nd thing and a biggie. Window sticker says car had a decor package A46 which includes moldings...I can honestly say this car did not have them on it and looks to have never had any wheel moldings or rocker or even drip moldings on it...ie. no holes or any other sign of moldings on car. Drip moldings are painted not chrome and prior owner owned since early 80's claims they were never any either.

3rd thing. Car has Power Disc brakes also but does not show on window sticker???? I guess these could have been added but same with above last owner claims they were on car in the early 80's also and they are 69 pieces????

4th thing which I guess is no biggie but I thought car was stripe delete. Car apparently came with a white stripe. I guess this could have been pulled off early in its life.

How accurate were the window stickers? My fender tag and build sheet are long gone so I can't really balance the three of them. I am thinking of leaving car optioned as found besides placing a stripe back on it.

Thanks.

Oh yeah...has "save for customer" written on the back of it.

My buddy just mentioned something to me that may be right about the moldings. I guess car might have had them and holes filled in long ago and I never noticed them. I have since replaced 1/4's and front fenders with different ones so I can't check backsides to see if any evidence of holes...since I don't have moldings guess what? I am not going to put any back on since I don't have any and don't want to drill any holes in new sheet metal. I guess I answered my own question.

Sounds like the car was repainted and upgraded early in its life.

I have registration papers for my Barracuda dating back to the early 80s. By then someone had already swapped in the 340-727-8/34 rear and painted it red. It was a Yellow slant 6 when new.

It's a factory 340/4spd Swinger...could have had the trim taken off to make more stealthy and better brakes added for handling. That might be right.

if the vin number is on the sticker and it matches the vin on the car, then the sticker is the "holy grail" for that car. it has to be right. it just shows you some of the things that have been done to it over the years. you should if you want be able to get a new fender tag made from the window sticker. i think that you could also get a new build sheet made as well. i have seen people selling blank build sheets for different year cars. you could get one and make a new one. your car would have full documentation then.

The VIN matches my car and body stampings so thats good. I know alot of things change on these cars over the years but the lack of moldings on my car threw me initially...I really think what my buddy suggested; that they were removed and holes welded up is probably the most likely thing and that the power disc brakes were either dealer or just upgraded later...which I am glad of and like.

Can you have a fender tag made from a window sticker??? I was always under the assumption that you could only do it properly with the build sheet and a window sticker was just a neat piece of the cars history.

Back to the questions though...were the window stickers in 69 supposed to list the cars color? Because again, there is no place for it printed on the sheet and its not typed on it also. My car is supposed to a med green color, F5 I think with a tan interior but I am changing it to GoMango with a white interior.

as far as i know you can have a fender tag made from the window sticker, although i could be wrong. galen govier would be able to tell you for sure. http://www.gvgovier.com/
the color thing i can't say one way or the other. i know alot of things were different in the 60's. there are a couple of guys on here that have 68-69 darts. maybe you could ask one of them...good luck

I have the original window sticker for my 69 383-S fastback barracuda. The window sticker does not list interior or exterior color. The window sticker doesn't mention the type of wheel combination and some other things like axle ratio, either. I also have the majority of the build sheet, the fender tag, and a video of the car when it was new.
Hope that helps,
Rod

On your window sticker, in the first line below the double colored line, what are the first three groups of letters and numbers?

Rod, It will have the axle ratio if an optional one was ordered. Mine has:

D57 Axle Ratio 3.91
D91 Sure-grip Differential 42.35
