I was just wondering, does the water flow from the water pump to the heater core back to the intake, or the other way around. probably sounds like a dumb question, but I need to know the direction of flow. thanks, dave.

heater connection is inlet back to block, or inlet to water pump
connection at top of intake is coming out of engine
water goes in top of radiator and down, out bottom hose into pump
out of pump to block is where pump mounts to block, you cannot see.
through block towards rear and up
forward on upper part and through head to front of heads, out ports of heads in front to crossover on intake
out of crossover at T stat back to radiator

Coolant flows from manifold thru heater back to the fitting on the pump,, whiich is suction side of the pump..

thanks, the reason for asking, I installed a classic air system in my 72 dart and cant seem to shut the water off to my heater core. thought I might have put the valve on the wrong hose. might be a bad valve. dave.

These cars had 3 engines. Why not tell us? Sounds like people are answering for a small block, which is a good guess since only it has coolant passages in the intake manifold.
