A clear hole wouldn't be my goal but I could live with it. They didn't machine a flat on the back of that boss or provide tool clearance so the round head of a allen bolt back there might be the best alternate hardware application.
More often we see one of those larger longer bolts that go clear though the timing cover in the blocks water jacket broken off. No choice but to get'er up on stands and maybe ask "How do I get this balancer bolt out?" This little bolt aint all that.
The nature of public forums... a pic shows a splinter in a finger, the mothers recommend a needle and a bandaid, the surgeons recommend surgery. Everything from "Amputate at the nearest joint" to "You need a whole new finger". LOL Good luck with it.
