Just got back from a week in the woods and thought I would post a few pics from a side trip we took. Went to the state fish hatchery at Petersburg, WV where the golden trout was first discovered in the 50's. The first picture is a shot of the hatching shed and the grounds. The second is the female brood stock in a holding pond outside the hatching shed. They looked to be around 2 feet long. The third shot is the male brood stock. They were 3-4 inches longer than the females. They were due to be stripped and milked starting Monday the 11th for a new hatchery run to produce what is in the last two pictures, waiting their turn to go into our streams. Know they ain't Mopars, but fish are a close second. Enjoy.

Is that dang:scratch: I forgot your valiants name.:banghead:
in the back ground parked in the shade?
I bet it felt good to get away.

Nice, those fish look healthy. I was up at the hatchery on the mountain above Rifle, Colorado.

Those pics make me want to wade in there with a portable floating Sunbeam BBQ, and pick my lunch..........

Water to belly in record time, and fresh Colorado water.......Mmmmmmmmmm.

:blob: 8)

The only thing the folks at the hatchery will let you catch is hot lead. Game Wardens here will shoot you faster than the State Troopers. Thanks Sid, I appreciate that. memike, good eye, that's Hester in the flesh. She done real good on the trip, but then she is a Mopar. Yep, we had a good week. Hope everybody else's was just as good.

Out here in Co there is a fish hatchery in the mountains that breeds salmon. About this time you can go, show your fishing license and line up outside. They will give you 2 salmon after they milk them. Just walk them out to your cooler and get back in line. No limit. That reminds me I have to call Phil and see where it is.

These are a few of the sights that we discovered on our road trip this past week in Hardy, Grant, Greenbrier, Nicholas and Pocohantas Counties in the eastern mountains of West Virginia.
First here is one of the dusty Country Roads that brought such driving pleasure

Next are the visitors that we saw every morning from our front porch of the cabin we stayed in

This was the view of the Pocohantas Mountains in the distance while driving on US Route 39:

This is our boys Greg and Luke feeding ducks at Summit Lake in the Monongalha National Forest, In Nicholas County:

Here are Seneca Rocks, One of West Virginia's most recognizable land marks:

And this was a shy spectator to all our spectating. A whitetail buck I guess to be about 2 years old just lying beside the path we took to see the Greenbrier River and the face of Seneca Rocks:

And last but not least this one's for MeMike... a Golden Eagle flying free about Cranny Crow Mountain's Overlook into Virginia and Maryland. Elevation 3854. I took this pic while on horseback.
