As I continue to push towards my goals, August has always been a pivotal month for me.

It was 3 years ago when my Doc weighed me in at 315 lbs during a routine visit and the gears in my mind began to grind. The seed of “Enough of this crap” began to germinate and took me down this path a little over a month later.

This is what I looked like 3 years ago and what I look like today. I’m calling it “The face of perseverance.”

          Seems like a lifetime ago...

Oh yeah, and I’ve lost another lb so far this month...still going!

Will have to read through this. Weighed myself last week, 40 pounds over what I should be.

First weekend of October and 3 years since I started this journey.

My new weight is 224 lbs making it now 91 lbs lost.

I only lost one lb this month, but I’m not surprised. I had big weight loss over this Summer and I also increased my potassium intake in mid August from 2600 mg/day to 3800 mg per day by changing my diet a bit. I’m sure it has temporarily whacked my fluid balance but I feel so much better physically and mentally since doing it. 98% of Americans don’t get enough potassium in their diet and I was one of them.

3 years into the journey and I have shed 318,500 calories at an average of just 290 calories per day. It has been a small daily change in eating but has added up to a very big change in my weight.

Now I remain focused on getting to the 100 lb lost goal by Christmas and shedding the last 30 lbs after that. By Christmas next year, I should be very close to my ultimate goal of losing 130 lbs total.

                      Still going!

Awesome deal. My wife did bariatric surgery as everything she did, was not working. I am now maintaining 224. I was down to I think 212, and got slack. She was at 257 and had issues with her hips, ankles, knees, and was snoring and kept stopping her breathing in her sleep. She is down to 215 and dropping.

I added a simple thing. I drink 12 oz of low sodium V8 juice every day and it adds 1200 mg of potassium and only 200 mg of sodium. I call drinking it “talking my medicine”.

And I enjoy it, tastes good to me. Nice little pick me up in the afternoon.

Eating spinach adds a bunch of potassium too. I did that first but I couldn’t eat spinach at every dinner meal and the V8 juice is easier to maintain as a regular thing.

I eat a lot of spinach too. But it does get old, unless you find ways to make it.
I made some Carnitas the other night, so I took a small amount of the broth and added it to the spinach. VERY good.
I forgot about the V8 juice! I'll have to fold that into my regimen..

Depending on your age and the condition of your kidneys the average adult should try and consume 3500-4700mg per day of potassium.

Actually.............the meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, bacon and cheese part of the burger isn't that bad for you. The bun however is full of carbohydrates. Carbs increase blood sugar, cause weight gain, high blood sugar can cause diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc, etc, etc. The French fries are totally full of carbs....onion rings are a little better for you than fries. Even a Veggie burger is bad for you if you use a regular bun.
