Weight loss.

Check the cure temp of the carbon, vs the working temp of the PETG, you may find the mold material not adequate.
I do ambient temp cure, the Easy Composite video guy uses PETG. Oven cure absolutely.

Had to remake my wiper motor mold. This one is printed, my original one died trying to get the part out.

That is slick! I'm getting a custom dash bezel 3D printed myself. I'm trying to learn how to use Fusion 360 so I can get more stuff made.

What material is the cover?

I am not too concerned with weight loss as I slow my car down for the classes I run anyhow but : I recently went from a TTI " H " pipe and Flowmaster 40 mufflers that weighed 51 lbs total to an all aluminum system including the mufflers and the whole system weighs 14 lbs for a 37 lb weight savings. Many years ago I swapped from 11 inch drum brakes on the rear that weighed 72 lbs including all the hardware , shoes , drums etc. to a Wilwood disc brake system that weighed 22 lbs for everything for a 50 lb savings.

I use Onshape to draw and Cura to slice. Both are free and pretty straight forward. I bought a Anycubic 2neo printer for $175 on sale. Had it for less than a year and it has been one of my best tool buys. I print in PETG filament. Been through 20 spools of it? Costs $15 a spool? The fake wiper motor will end up. Carbon fiber. I have one on my car, weighs 5-6 ounces?

I know I have a ton to get out of the exhaust, but just replaced it a year ago. The race fuel will kill the new one, then I will look at aluminum. :)

Hard to tell...:) Needs one more coat of wrinkle paint, it's not as even looking as I would like. I couldn't get a wrinkle out of it until I used a heat gun.

Sorry, wrong car maybe. Thought it was the F.A.S.T. car for sale.
Not to clutter Rhetts thread but I put the car forsale 12? years ago when I was going through a divorce, figured a way through without selling and it hasn't been for sale since.

What’s the ET/MPH goal for the Duster this year?

And do we think the Barracuda will be in the 10s? That would be awesome to see!

I think Rhett will be in the tens when he uses the parts he has at his disposal, whether he makes the push to get it done this year is up to him. Just a couple years ago his times now would have the record, his car is bad to the bone.

There was a pretty good push this winter to improve the duster's time. After the 10.18 the end goal is pretty obvious. Came up with some ideas to try. Made a whole bunch of new parts, probably didn't do enough to get there this year, but the math says it should be close.

It is. Been fun to watch it go faster and faster.

100lbs. is a 1/10th. 16 oz. in 100 places.

My guess is you're probably already past basic stuff like below but if not... get to work!

Bogart wheels.

Pair this up with gun drilled axles... presume you have a spool which is way lighter than a Sure Grip.

Again, all basic stuff but worthwhile.

I fought with the wrinkle paint also and wasn’t happy with it even after using heat gun. I was doing it earlier in the spring so everything was colder. I had much better results with putting the housing on saw horses and underneath I put a Lil Buddy propane heater. Got the housing warm, then sprayed the paint. Left it cooking over the heater. Kept a REALLY close eye on how warm it got, but it wrinkled almost perfect. I had pieces of steel running between the saw horses and kept feeling how warm they were. The paint does sand off easy, but be VERY VERY careful. You can sand through it extremely quickly. Hand sand only. Bills is on the right and a bit uneven. Will probably re-spray it.

10’s will be a stretch for me I think this year. I was a bit surprised by the 11.17 at MIR last year. On that run it equaled my best 60’ of 1.60. I have been stuck at 1.60 60’s for about a year. So long that I was starting to think that was all my converter could give me. At US131 a week ago it ran a string of 1.56-1.58’s. E/T’s were nothing special because we were fighting 10-15 mph headwind. The track prep was great and I changed the launch a bit, to use the grip. Car will also be 20 lbs lighter in the nose for Cecil at the end of the month. If it does it, it would be kinda a fluke.

Did you guys use adhesion promoter before painting? Bulldog brand is supposed to be good. I’ve actually used truck bed liner thinned out with reducer (sprayed through a paint gun) and it’s not too far off the wrinkle paint. Just a thought.

1/10 in the 60 is pretty good, you’re clearly on the right track. If you’re on 14s Would going to 15” wheels be of any benefit? Perhaps a shock update?
