Some of you already know I have been dealing with an engine and trans swap both at the same time, but as this is my daily driver car I needed to get it done ASAP.
I have slacked a bit on some of the HEI kits and modified distributors because of it and to those waiting for their parts I apologize, but this had to get done.

Everything came together just right so I had both the time and resources to do it, so I dove in.

The stockish 318 got replaced with a 96 5.9 Magnum with EQ heads and a custom ground Magnum roller cam (214/224 ,512 lift) from Oregon Cam Grinders referred by RustyRatRod (Rob) and a beautiful nasty rice and pony scaring idle a stops, and that was exactly what I wanted.
It is a torque cam with 350hp and 412 foot lbs at 3,500 RPM's
A really fun around towner for sure.
Of course it has an aluminum intake and headers as well as 2.5 dual exhaust.
The old 904 that had been making grinding sounds from the planetaries gave up it's spot for a 1995 A500OD (42RH) 4 speed automatic with converter lockup out of a Dodge Dakota 2 wheel drive pickup and a Transgo stage 2 shift kit was also installed before it went in the car.
1,800 RPM's at 80mph and not even breathing yet. :D

Once in the middle of all that I decided to add one more project to the fray and order a fiberglass hood scoop for it, and that is what this post is about.
I wanted the scoop molded directly to the hood (no seams) as if the hood was made with it.
Fiberglass is my product of choice with projects like this and the hood was drilled around the perimeter of the scoop so the glass would get pushed into them a nice grip on the hood surface would be maintained.(it bolted down also)
Then I painted the whole hood with Acrylic Enamel and wet look hardener in my 10x12 shed in the back yard.
The scoop is a factory 1970 Mustang Mach 1 repop and I got to show off my painting in adverse conditions skills again on the hood and even got to do a little custom underside change while it was off. :D
Damn this thing is a lot of fun to drive, and yes I'm showing off a little.

On to the car **** y'all so dearly love. :D

That scoop came out looking surprisingly good on a Mopar. Nice job.

Thank you.
I am one of those people that can see something in my mind really clearly before I do it, and I thought it was a great match for a beaker. :D

Luv the car and build but that scoop sucks. ..

I suppose one of those half a storage tray Hemi scoops is ok though? :D
It fit the rest of the lines on the car better than any other scoop I could find, and you are the first and so far only person who hasn't liked it.
I even got stopped down town today because some people walking down the sidewalk wanted to take pictures. :D

scoop is perfect with the "beak" i really like it purists be damned btw howd you get your tranny so shiny? lol

That is an aluminum enamel in a spray can.
Not like plain aluminum spray that smudges, but gloss enamel with bright aluminum color.

Did you cover what mods you did to get the transmission to fit? I missed it if you did.

You're, the bum? You assemble it ,this quickly,..get it done in one shot, and are happy with it..We talked about this,in shituations (on purpose..),Glad, your happy with it.. Rob's good at conservative cam choices, that's a safe one..:wtf:(lmao...)

So give us a rundown on how you got that trans in there please.

The only mods I had to do to the car was to take out the hump of the crossmember starting at the trans mount crossmember and running over the top of the trans to the other side.
I have some pretty heavy duty subframe connectors welded right next to the where the tunnel hump section came out, so between that and building a new crossmember for the trans mount that's all I had to change on the car. (well, also shorten the driveline)

well I'll be a skunned skunk - - that almost looks alright ~NEVER going to admit that I like it.. wait... damn it..
might I suggest a red strip/stripe from parking light to parking light right in the center of the grill... use the very center grill bar... I had a 74 Dart once and painted it the same color as the car - looked "right" if you know what I mean...

I have considered it, and even did it in a photo program but didn't care for it.

Your car looks great. The scoop looks good. The OD trans is a great idea .

Thank you.
It been a project for sure, but in the end worth every bit of blood and sweat it took to do it.

nice! i really like it! will look sick under the car

That paint is the same stuff I use for the inside of marker and tail light lenses.
It sure did make seeing things under there a lot easier. :D

The scoop works pretty well! i think molding it in helps a lot, wouldn't look right if it were just attached.

Definitely jealous of the OD and 5.9. you will have to post some videos of it running when you get a chance!

I have to admit, for a beeeeak,it is sweeeet!
EDIT
Now it occurred to me that the above might sound like I'm an azz. And I'm not sure if I can undo that. Sorry 'bout that. It was not my intention; I'm just not into beaks; even tho I've had several.
Your effort really is sweet! And I doubt any other scoop could touch it.
That is partly, mostly, why I've never liked beaks; cuz of the perceived lack of aesthetics when trying to fit a scoop.I've had two 69 Barracudas, one of which I was eager to scoop. After searching for weeks, I could not find anything I liked.
Yours I like. And the execution is excellent.

BTW; where'd you find that O/D switch mini-console? Or is that a custom install on the back of your floor-shift console? Whatever it is, I like that too!
