Just curious what combos, and what kind of power is being made out of the stock 3.31 stroke.

Don't worry......Be happy.... lol.. It is for sure a sickness.. We always want to go faster! lol..:burnout:

No doubt... 2 340s later and I still want more out of it. Only solution is a stroker. LOL!!

For the most part cubes will determine max HP and the stroke will determine where. With the corresponding components, a 340 in. engine is capable of 750/800 hp when done in comp/pro stock form. That said, with a 3.31 crank it would probably make it at 10/11 thousand rpm.

You can make a hell of a lot more power than that fairly average 340 u have, there are guys making 470 hp with ported j iron and soild cams, yawn...
Its amazing to me when people ask such common sense type questions, spend more make more, like are you asking us to simply think for you out of laziness?

Im counting the number of threads you keep mentioning how much hp your 340 makes, got any time slips?

I have not raced it. Not much sense in it with traction issues. Do have the dyno #s though. Laziness???? What are you talking about? Im not even building another 340 rite now. Just curious to see what people are getting for #s out of the 3.31 stroke. And every time I mention my #s is only because someone is asking a question.

It's not so much that YOUR lazy but it is the laziness that the net offers so many people. It becomes common for people to just be instead of just do.

Sorry if my interest and questions irritate you. Just a snowy day discussion. Food for thought. The net can save someone a lot of time and money if they buy what is already been tried and proven.

Says the guy who edited his opening post where he blowhards his dyno numbers.

Only to clarify my interest, and so guys like you dont think im just throwing my #s around. I know there are a lot stouter 340s around than mine and people with deeper wallets then me as well.

Not sure how much HP it made, but my old 340 with TRW 2316 forged replacement pistons, MP 296/557 solid cam, my own home ported 915 J heads, M single plane, 727 w/ 8" stall & 4.10's ran 11.90 @ 110 in an all steel 73 Dart Sport.

Calculators put that combo in the 375/400hp range at 3400lbs. The et to mph shows a extremely efficient combo. Although the 727 will eat some power vs a 904, the converter being right was probably what helped it to be a nice package. Congrats :thumblef:.

Nice combo and time. Even more so considering the car is a little heavy with those massive steel bumpers.
