So I found this 70 Swinger up for sale and am not sure what I think about it. Restomods are cool when done tastefully and not overdone, but it looks like this car cant figure out what it wants to be, old school or new school. Looks like quite a bit of money went into it, but Im not really a fan of it, what do you guys think?

I'd drive it. If it was a member here posting those photos, people would be saying how nice it is. But because you're asking about a car that's for sale, people will rip it apart.

I like it, Stock is boring , but it's probably priced too high.

seats are vomitous.

the rest looks well done with some thought put into it.

the trunk treatment is clearly "hot rod" and i think it's hokey AF.

the ad copy is straight bullshittery.

not my style, but solidly a mid 30's car.

Paint the radiator yoke black....

Not a fan of those rear spoilers on anything.

While Sublime isn't my favorite color, the car does look clean.

Look at this...the engine bay isn't black!

Aside from the seats, the interior looks decent. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

In the trunk, he sure wanted everyone to know it was a Dart SWINGER. It was originally FE5 red.
Overall, not a bad looking car.

Actually the car over all is nice. Sublime is a one-year color and if it came on that car actually increases value. As far as the spoiler goes I have the same factory option on my 70 340 swinger and has been the source of so many complement of the car for over 40 years. But yeah I'm prejudice and proud of it. there's room for improvements in my opinion but the always is.

Nothing really "resto-mod" about it. The seats are hideous and the trunk upholstery isn't much better, but both of those are easily changed. If you replaced the seats with factory stuff and pulled the trunk upholstery and over the top stereo stuff it would look pretty stock with some mild engine performance modifications.

Looks like a bunch of money was spent and it's at a dealer so I'm sure the asking price is probably more than the market value. Based on the upholstery I'd say the restoration was at least 10-15 years ago, but it looks pretty clean. Obviously to know that for sure you'd need to see the actual mechanicals and inspect the work up close.

It isn't the original color. The fender tag reads FE5, that is red.

Most people will be polite and either compliment or say nothing if they don't like something. If it is YOUR car, feel free to enjoy it. I'd never put one on a car thinking it will make the car more attractive to buy. I see it as something to remove, holes to fill and a part that will have to be painted.

FE5. That is red. J45 is hood tie down pins, I don't see those. V8W is the white bumble bee stripe.
Oddly, I see no R11 code for the commonly optioned AM radio. The car came without one? Y07 means dealer ordered in Canada.

Both of you hit the nail right on the damn head. Agree. Agree. Agree.

I can't imagine putting in the effort to change to those seats, just to have power seats, and the green's not a match. No real 'bucket' to 'em, almost no side bolster either, bottom or back. May be more comfy, dunno, I'd personally pick somethin' more sporty.

It sags in the rear badly.
Yo Man, gotsta has Your sound gear for the bumpin'......
The trunk seal looks all F'd up, for all the effort in the 'Swinger' details, You'd think one would do a better job gluing on the weatherstrip.....

im not seeing a "restomod". i see a stock looking car with ugly non stock seats and stupid radio installed,

car doesn't look bad in the pics but I'm on my phone and they are small. someone would have to really look at that close before buying it. I wouldn't trust a word that seller is saying.

Regarding the sagging rear suspension, clearly they ignored restoring "that" so what else has been ignored?
