Named after a Louis Chevrolet - was a racer in early 20th century, was briefly associated with a forerunner of a general motors division. Probably was French. when Durant assembled general motors - circa 1920? he wanted a "fancy" name for one of the new divisions - and used Louis Chevrolets' name.
