What gears do I want?

Changed my Duster over from auto to 4 speed ...What gears should I have in the rear? Its an 8 3/4 rear. And does anyone have a set for sale?
OK I just want a street machine not strip. Just a driver....

don't need to change anything just because its a 4 speed.. gears will depend on your combo.

3:55 would probably do ya for a street machine. IMO

But really what cam do you have so we know what range the engine lives in rpm wise?

You live in high country and even a decent street car needs a minimum up here of 3.55 or 3.91s if you are not of the higway long trips. Also need to know what size tire too..

The most common gear was 3.23....but 3.55 works well also. Check your rear it should have a tag on one of the center section bolts that tells you the ratio. Send me a p/m if its not what you want. I have some gear sets.

Also consider a 3.73, the long-time favorite gear of hotrodders. It gives good throttle response.

I prefer a 3:73 it'll run 70@ 2800 rpm nice off the line too
