What TC do I need????

I'll be installing a 380HP-360mag. into my 71 Scamp this fall with a 904 behind it and I need to know just what stall TC I need for it. I already have the correct weighted flex-plate for it. I have been told that the orginal TC that's in it will work just fine providing I remove the weights. The car is an orginal 318 LA,904, 8 3/4 car. Thanks for any help guys.

A lot of this depends on car weight, rear gear ratio, tire size and actual useage of the car. How you intend to drive it. A street strip converter is very different from a strip only converter.

I'm not exactly sure of the cams duration @.050. Which is a big factor.
I myself would contact a reputable converter company. Like PTC, Dynamic, etc..., and speak honestly to them. There going to ask you a lot of questions about the car and what it will be used for and how it is used.
 
Yup. Make some phone calls. The converter is the single most important purchase for an auto equipped car. It's that important. PTC, Dynamic, Precision of New Hampton are three that would be on my short list to call.
 
That is exactly what the cam spec's are for the 380hp. My plan is for street & cruzin only. My drag racing days are long in the past. :) It's all going in a stock bodied 71 Scamp and I'm not sure what the curb weight is on it.Eventually want gear ratio around the 3:50 range in the rear.Thanks guys for any and all info.

Thank You PoisonDart,That's just what I needed to know. I've always been a 4spd guy and know absolutely nothing about automatic's. I'm slowly learning and wanted to do this right the 1st time. I've had a lot of parts and pieces build up over the years from doing it wrong and I've ran outta run of bs parts I can't use. :) Thanks again

Go to Ultimate convertors at see the list of info he asks for. Lenny is the man, he will do you right. I'm very happy with the work he's done for me.

my magnum loves the ptc 9.5.i had a coan 11"2300 stall.what a differance the ptc made.i dont drag race either,but never shyed away from a street spirited encounter.call ptc.well worth the money.$500 i think is what i paid
