Hello guys,

I can buy this Duster for $500 with a 318 engine or $1000 with a 440 engine. The outside is in decent shape, it has some rust in front of the doors and behind the rear tires. The interior has been completely gutted. I will have to talk to the seller and see if he has any of the interior stuff. The passenger side floor pan is completely gone, will have to be replaced. He has the hood and rear bumper, not sure about the tail lights.

I still have a ton of work to do on my Dart, (which is in the background of one of the pics) but I am seriously considering at least getting the body with the 318. Would love to have the 440 but might have to wait on it.

Of course my wife thinks it's too far gone to warrant any money.

What do you guys think?

Lets run down the list............

Your car needs a bunch of work.

You are thinking about getting a rusted project that doesn't run and is semi parted out.

Your wife thinks it's a bad deal.

I guess getting the car would be a good idea if your goal in life is to be broke and have your wife pist off all the time.

One big thing to consider is if it is a disc brake car? If it is there it is $300 to $350 of your money. What rear end? Possible 8 3/4 $500+ or 8 1/4 $200 to $250. What are the wheels on the back? It is an AC car. It is a parts car as far as I see it.

Sure if you got tons of money go for it but I suspect you're like many of us who are on a limited toy budget. I wouldn't touch it with all that cancer, I can just imagine what the underside looks like, rotted cross member and frame rails. Finish what ya got before taking on another. IMO.

get it ues it fro parts if he has it all and not going to be a disk brake car i bet if u want it get u only go around one time lol now i dont think ur a guy that would make his famliy stare for a toy so if ur tinking u got the extra cash for it ...

Wait, finish yours. You are lucky,a wife and a hot rod? Count your blessings.

If you can do majority of the work yourself, go for it. If not, consider labor, parts, and the whole nine that has to be done in order to make it a solid roller. You mentioned that your car needs a ton of work... I would stay focused on that. You never know what tomorrow holds (I've been down that road). You can purchase the Duster and hold of until you're ready for it, but it's all up to you and how your pockets are set.

Hello Russell,
What would your plans be for the car? A driver with the 318 or a drag car with the 440? You didn't say, so I assume no tranny with either of the engines. What condition is it in, other than the floor pan? Floor pans are fairly easy to put in. The rest of the body appears to be solid, except for the LF inner fender; maybe that's just surface rust.
If it was solid, you had a place to store it (indefinitely) and the spare change today I would pick it up. They don't make Dusters anymore! A good solid body for about the cost of junk with good glass is a great starting point. It actually looks better than what I started with...
