What to store phosphoric acid in.

-
I thought plastic was good for my dilute phosphoric acid so I put it in a Harbor freight bucket. In a few weeks this is what I found. Glad it was outside. View attachment 1716403655What to use?
HDPE (DPE/XLPE) or polyproppolene (iffy for some acids though) just like it came in, anything else it EATS no matter how much you dilute it,,,,Well truthfully glass last about 2 years before weakening for the straight non diluted acid also but no way I'm putting it in a big old glass jar in my shop

Thanks all. I did get an HDPE bucket from a seller on Amazon. Fingers crossed, but from all accounts it should work.

I'm thinking, go to a pool store and buy a Chlorine jug. They also have a plastic cap. I think it has the same plastic as a Muriatic acid container.

I pour several gallons into a larger container with an open top to hold larger pieces. I did some exhaust manifolds before painting them for storage. Getting ready to do a battery tray. I use both the acid dip and sandblasting. Solvent bath and wire brush in a parts washer first, then sand blast followed by the acid (like Metal Prep I believe is one brand) and then prime and paint. I just finished all my brackets for the front of my 360 like that.

Find a car wash owner. Jet a soap or wall cleaner jerrican from him. I warehouse car wash soaps and other chemicals and those are so concentrated that acid or base (they come both ways) are highly corrosive. Rinse and dry it out thoroughly and they should be good. For years. Probably can get them for free too.

Are those open at the top? How big?

And it deeply etched the concrete, too!
I had a gallon of OS-PHO rust converter, a phosphoric acid(I think)& after a few years it ate a hole in the pladtic gallon jug it came in. I have another bottle, now, that I should pour into a new container.
& recently a Hydogen Peroxide bottle I've used for years sprang a leak.
Wonder if dissolved plastic in OS-PHO decreases it's effectiveness? Any Chemists out there?
