What tranny is best for a bigger motor

ok, i may be going bigger on my stock 69 dart custom w/273 and auto trans. question is do i need to replace the stock tranny if i get a bigger motor?

what bigger motor are you going to?

not really sure yet, but possibly a 360 or 440. im still looking for a good running motor that i can swap in without having to rebuild it..

Your 904 trans will be fine for the 360 if it currently works fine with the 273.
A factory 440 big block will not bolt up to the 273/360 small block 904 trans you have in that car.

ok, so is a 360 the biggest i can go with the 904? if i go with a 440 what would i need a 727?

dont forget 273 & 318 are internal balance 360 is external balance
