What transmission is this behind my 170 S6?

Do I even want to know what this "emissions switch" does? Anyone know? I assume it must have tied into the later years electronics and messed with the timing or something depending on what gear you were in?
Does anyone really know?

Well except the ratios in the A230 are like those of the A833od, namely; Second is lousy for performance with typical street gears, when combined with a small, low-compression engine, and especially with a bit of a cam.
The ratios are ;
2.55-1.49-1.00 the close ratio A230
3.08-1.70-1.00 the standard A230
3.09-1.67-1.00-.73od, the A833od.
2.66-1.92-1.39-1.00 the standard A833;
3.09-1.92-1.39-1.00 the Commando.

A nice performance Second road-gear for a mild SBM is about 6.50
To get that; with a 1.49 gear will take 4.30s
in the back. With a 1.70/1.67 it will take 3.91s
With the standard A833(1.92), it will take 3.38s, rounds to 3.23/3.55
