she started taking line so I set the drag and got her to the bank and did a L.D.R = Long distance release:eek:ops:
She looked to be a nice 3 lb female.
@#$%^& that sure would have been a nice one to take home for dinner.

I hate those LDRs Mike. If I remember, I'll post a pic of my mounted smallmouth tonight. If I remember right, I think it was 5 or 6 pounds. Looked kinda like a football when I got it out of the water, lol!

I'd much rather be fishing than working right now.......

Was it a small mouth Kentucky bass
or was it a Brownie small mouth bass like this one?
The Kentucky small mouth here in Arkansas looks like a large mouth bass.
if its a brownie or a Kentucky bass. A keeper for sure.
A 4 lb is a giant, good catch :cheers:

I caught it up in Northern Wisconsin a few years back when I was fishing with my older brother up at my Mom's place. It was taking some time to reel it in and my brother was getting pissed off because it was obviously going to be bigger than anything he caught that week. Plus, his wife was in the boat, lol!

So, he says "Quit screwing around and get that damn thing the boat!". Well, he knew how hard I was fighting it because it was literally pulling the boat around. I just turned, looked him straight in the eye and turned the drag down on my Abu Garcia spinning reel. All you could hear was "Zzzzzzzzzzzz", lol! Yeah, that and my brother's blood boiling.

Anyway, to make a short story long, I would have to say that it would look more like the Kentucky style of Bass you have down there. :read2:

So I walked back to the pond and fished behind the small front and took my pick of a few.

I put at lest 12 back. To small.

Fresh fish tonight. 18 small filets should do fine for the wife and I :rock:

They will put a fight better then a 10 lb large mouth bass.
That is close to or state record down here.

That is my daughter. My lucky charm? Yes she is. The T-shirt helped to.
I don't know how much it weighed, We put them back. But 7-8 sounds good to me. That was the biggest one we have pulled out of there so for. But we do catch 5 pounders out of there all the time. It is a lot of fun I do love to fish.


Mabby I will change my pic to fishing pole and beer:-D

#4 Mepps Bucktail. Works on big Northern Pike and apparently big Bass too. Most guys flip or jig artificial worms, but I thought I'd try something different and it just happened to work out. In that same spot 5 minutes earlier with the same lure I caught a good size Northern too. It was a very good day fishing! :cheers: You're right Mike, it was very close to a state record smallmouth.

I have used my fishing poll, cold one, Grill and Girl so if
and I mean if [-(it is calm tomorrow! I will check my 22 mag Hornady's out.
I don't plane on enjoying a drink tomorrow and I need to walk of this great beer buz I have going know.
new this year 125 yards flat. and 200 yards at 1.143 fps

Let"s see if the mag douse what it said it can do.


Corn chips and fryed peanuts are ate. I had to go back and look.
