i bout a 72 cuda a few years ago, and while installing a cam i posted some pictures on another forum of my diy job. some forum members noticed my pushrods were all offset on the intakes and the question arose about weather or not it was a TA block.

well, the #'s have been verified and it IS a TA block, i cant find any info anywhere about the original car however....

So, im just not the type of person who keeps things just for trophies, or because their rare. i keep things because they are practical, and i can use them. Im a realist i guess you could say?

The point of this thread is, I bought my cuda on a loan, my wife wants me to get rid of it, the TA motor is hopped up a tad and gets **** for mileage, its a 'thrid' car, and so i came up with the idea of selling the motor for cash + trade for another good drop-in stockish small block, install some efi, sell my daily driver car (its a beater),and put all the $ toward the principle of the loan, drop my monthly payments... now ill get better gas mileage, and ill have more $ left over for gas, and its my primary car so now the wife is stuck with it, albeit probably not happy but at least its more of a mpg friendly daily driver.

so, this is where i need some expertise and some direction on what to do.

i was thinking an ideal price would be $6k + trade for a run of the mill standard 340, doesnt have to be brand new or newly rebuilt, just something thats not wore out and would make a good daily driver engine.

my engine is a fresh rebuild 2 years ago with about 300 miles on it, arp everything internally, .020 overbore, the only thing thats not new are the valves, rockers and shafts, basically.

get the vin number off the block and post it...if the car (aar cuda or ta challenger) is still around the owner would probably buy it for a good price..

secondly...if an aar or ta owner want era correct engine for his car...that would be second option...

contact Barry Washington at sixpak340@att.net

I sent him an email about a week ago but havent heard anything back yet.

VIN: 0B311233

So it has TA in the casting number and it's not a -6 block?

I made a quote of the first poster a few times with the reply:

but for some reason it keeps not showing up in the thread.

no, the casting clearly says TA not -6 LOL

casting: 3577130T.A.340

Cool, see lots of "I have a 6 pack engine" and it's a -6 casting.

Barry has a pretty good database for those cars. If he knows where it is he'll get you in touch with the owner.

Just saw the title of the thread..................$5 I'll be over to pick it up.. lol
