Whats the difference between 66 & 69 steering Columns?

Doesn’t a 69 have a collapsible column? I know the 66 doesn’t. Also the turn signal assemblies are different. And isn’t the collar where the steering wheel mounts larger than the 66? I’ve got a 68/69 woodgrain sport steering wheel and although it will physically install to an early A column, the hub of the steering wheel is so much larger than the 66’d collar. I’d venture to guess it would be the other way around with a 65/66 wheel hub being too small for a 69 column.

Sorry...didn't mean the actual Steering Wheel...I mean the little copper / brass horn button contact wheel that is inside under the steering wheel next to the turn signal switch....

Here you go; they appear to be the same. The first pic is from a 65/66 wood sport wheel; 2nd is from a 68 or 69 wood sport steering wheel.

Yeah. That looks different that what I’ve got. Parts catalog I have also only goes from 64-66 for that piece.

I can shed a bit more light on the guts of the steering wheel - the copper horn contact which is secured to the wheel with that HD round spring is the same size for my early A wheel, the 69 wheel and a later 70's Tuff wheel adapter - about 2 inch in diameter. FWIW the diameter of the area of the steering wheel that sits on the collar for the early A column is 3.5 inches. For the 69 and Tuff wheel adapter, it is 4 inches in diameter.

hmmmmm...ok.
I am trying to determine which Grant Wheel adapter kit I need to order. I have a Grant kit now ( don't know what its for - but it looks like a kit for a 69)....but it does not match where the horn brass roller wheel hits the hub on the kit....

All the pictures of the Grant kit for the 66 looks like it will work.….but Im afraid it wont line up....
