From my manual it says 0 degrees, no advance (TDC) If that don't work, try 2-4 degrees.

I'd start at about 10 btc. The manuals always seemed to have very conservative timing advance specs. If it pings at wot, back it off a couple and test again. It would be nice to have a timing tape or an adjustable light to check full advance. Which would be around 32-35 degrees.
The timing was very conservative in a feeble attempt to meet emissions laws.
