I'm calling on anyone who has done an uncut 8.8 swap here. I've got a 64 Dart that is about to get an 8.8 transplant from an explorer and I'm having myself a migraine trying to figure out wheel width and backspacing. I would like to try and stick with a 14 inch rim if anyone has any suggestions. Right now, it has American Racing Outlaw II small bolt patterns. Anyone know if they make those for the large bolt pattern in a backspacing that will work?

Uncut?! An 8.8" uncut is 59 13/16" wheel mount to wheel mount. I am not an expert on the early A's, but I feel pretty confident in saying that you will not find any 14" rim with enough backspacing without going to custom made rims. You'd need a backspacing well over 5" even on a 7" wide rim. That's not something you'll find on an off the shelf 14" rim.

You might try asking @vntned. I know he was running 245's on an early A with an 8.25" rear axle, but I think he had 17x8's with 4.5" of backspace. And an 8.25 is only like 56.75" wheel mount to wheel mount, so that 8.8 is almost a full 3" wider. Which would mean an extra 1.5" of backspace to put the wheels in the same place with an 8.8, which would be a 8" wide rim with 6" of backspace or a 7" wide rim with 5.5" of backspace.
