i had already purchased my combo for my 408 stroker i am using solid flat tappet 645 lift cam and i dont want to wipe a lobe ,i read the schubeck lifter are hardened and there is no break in with the cam, Also does anyone know who sells them?

They have a ceramic cap on the bottom. Supposedly you can change cams and use the same lifters.

BUT.... a friend of mine built a Hemi using those and one came apart. That ceramic cap came off the lifter and bounced through that motor like a bullet. He was very lucky it didn't ruin the lifter bore

I think i just changed my mind after the last 2 responses LOL i just dont have any money left to upgrade to solid roller but want some kind of insurance i wont wipe a lobe , I will break the engine in correctly i bought comp cams brake in additive.i will also take the inner springs out until cam is broken in.

I have never used Schubecks but have read several articles on them over the years. I have never heard any negative feedback on them until now but do like to hear it all. All I remember was the history of the special coating and the big $$$ they cost.

Recently, I was told by a Mopar engine builder about a solid lifter that they were using that had a hole drilled down the center in order to add additional lubrication and virtually eliminated any issues with flattening the lobes. The mnfr escapes me right now but I can call them and ask. Does anyone know which lifters they were taking about?

Also, they said using these lifters eliminated the need to take the inner springs/dampners out or use lower ratio rockers for break-in.

EDM lifters

Ben, No idea on those cam numbers.

For what a set of Shubeck lifters will cost you can run a solid lift roller! Shubeck lifters are VERY EXPENSIVE! So I was told when I was inquiring about them. A set for a 340 /416 build up I was quoted $954.00 for a set which included shipping etc.! I changed my mind after reading some stories and talking to a few people about them. Google Shubeck lifters and read some of the stories and lawsuits yourself. But if you want a set you can buy them here! http://www.4secondsflat.com/Composite lifters.htm
