Mattax and Oklacarcollecto: Great info, albeit a bit confusing when you don´t know exactly what everything is. Thanks for the help, I will be back with a FMS number :)

Sorry about that. Some does depend on your on your on preference in how close you want to follow the factory.
The shoes pictured in your link to Classic Industries are 331s made by Centric. You can use the 331 shoes with the earlier hardware. I've done it as have others. I don't love it because there are small differences that may cause rubbing on the adjusters. But I'm very picky.

If you don't want to remove the shoes, just take a photo and post it here or e-mail to me. I can tell you just by looking at them.

The '69 and up adjusters will look like the ones on this page.

You must use the 331 shoes with them.

If you have the earlier style adjusters, you have a greater choice of close substitutes; the 331s, 'Ford' 151, '68 only 288 or pre '68 256.

As far as the suppliers go, Centrics is the only brake company I've run across in the US market that for some reason does not participate in stardard markings. So they don't always have the backing plate number and they don't include the friction rating and other edge code information. Product itself seems OK and if you e-mail they'll tell you the info.

Here's a drawing of the early 256 shoe for anyone who is interested. From NAPA's website in 2005.
