Anyone know where to buy just a set of brackets for a 65 A-body sway bar? I need the K-frame mounts and the LCA bolt on brackets.

Thanks

K frame brackets are part of the original sway bar. They are welded around the bushings. The lower control arm tabs are welded and part of the arm also.

It sounds like you need the parts that came with the Addco after-market sway bar. It sounds like you have the sway bar only. Is yours an Addco bar or factory? I don't know that they were the same. The factory sway bars also came in 2 different lengths. 1965 was shorter.

You can buy universal urethane bushings/brackets from Energy Performance. You will need sway bar diameter, and center to center mounting bolt measurement.

I have a original and a aftermarket bar. The OE have one bracket still.

I used aftermarket 13/16 inch bushings. Open the bottom of the factory bracket by cutting off the factory welds. Cut of the mounting tabs of the aftermarket bracket and spot weld it inside the factory bracket without the tabs (which you can discard). This will accommodate the wider aftermarket rubber. Then re-close the opening by welding a small tab of steel. Fortunately, the spot welds did not damage the new bushing in the least. (But keep a bottle of water handy to cool things down during the work). You will also have to hammer the factory bracket some to conform to the aftermarket shape before welding anything.

Talk to Dick at FirmFeel...

I bought the addco sway bar thinking it was a great price. After 2 days of trying to modify the way it mounted (it sucks...) I called FirmFeel and bought thiers. It mounts very nice and is worth the cost difference in the frustration it will save you.
