I am getting ready to build a new motor for my duster. it has a .030 over 360 now that runs on pump gas and has run a best 11.92
the motor has less than 500 miles on a refresh.
I am gonna pull it and sell. do you think $1800 is a fair price for my old 360? has ported 2.02 J heads. moroso deep pan.ross pistons chevrolet pistons, bushed rods, titanium wristpins,.100 long chevrolet stainless valves, alloy comp roller rockers, blue anodized hold downs, arp bolts, hughes .567 solid cam, m1 intake, windage tray,
I wanna build a stroker. I have a 340 block and a 360 block. debating between a 408, 416 or a 426 kit by hughes. what are your recommendations. I need to figure out a cost effective set of heads that will benefit both my pocket and engine. my drive line is ready and needs nothing just need to build the motor. i would like to get in the high 10's-low 11.0 and run car on the street prefer on 93 octane.but will run 110 at the track.gimme some ideas.
thanks

im looking at a set of Dr. J's aluminum heads. they are 2.08-1.6 valves. good to like .670 lift outta the box.

Yes ,on the 360/408 strioker.(cheaper). I don't know,if Air wolf's are actually available yet.The 1800 price,more than fair. F.W.IW,what cam specs,gears and converter/transmission? You have a great short block.Something isn't right here.

there is a thread over on moparts in the race section about the airwolf220 heads...apparently people who had ordered heads months ago are now finally getting them...

you asking specs on my 360 im taking out or the specs on the motor i am wanting to build?
not sure on complete cam specs of old motor. its a old prolly 10-12 yrs old hughes solid cam. has a .567 lift i know.the pistons are some forged ross flat tops. about 10.5.1 compression. runs good on 93 octane.the j heads are ported and have the bigger chevy valves.has had several convertors. the one now is a flash convertor.flashes about 4200rpm. b&m 727. reverse vlve body, ss springs, 4.10 gears, 8 3/4, 28in slicks. hooker super comp big tube under car hedders,

You might look at cylinder head work, before stroking it.You will need bigger heads, for the 408 anyway. Look for 250 c.f.m. minimum. What headwork ,has been done?

they have been just hand ported and polished. no clue what they flow. it pulls 1.6 60fts and runs a 7.6 1/8 mile.but loses it on the big end

I'd build a simese bore, 3.79 stroke and 6.5 rods to keep good bore to stroke and rod ratios,
But with your choices I'd go with 340, your building an $8000 engine why pinch pennys with the 360, a bunch of 340 haters on here :)

Actually get them both sonic checked and go with the best one.

I'm not sure ppl hate 340's ? I know I don't I have had 5 of them and have 2 at present .
I think the cheaper cost might be part of it ?
I do believe some ppl complain a oust casting shift in 340's ?

Minimum 11:70's at least. (with your combo). Explain, your fuel system, in total detail.

3.79 stroke / 2 = 1.895 + 6.50 = 8.395

9.60 deck height...- 8.395 = compression height of 1.205....

Siamese bore?.....R3 block....there is 3000 buck of your budget..plus machine work on it.....

AirWolf heads
Hughes forged flat top 4" stroker kit 11 to 1 comp
Victor or Super Victor intake (properly port matched)
850 double pumper
.904 profile solid flat tappet cam in the mid 260* @.050 range
1.75" primary headers

600+ HP easy, should run high 10s or better

I was slightly kidding about 340 haters, but I find funny if someone owns both a 340 and 360 you guy almost always go with 360 cause its 20 cubes bigger but when it 408/416 its the 408 that wins sure its only 8 cubes and don't matter that much but find the logic funny :)
But if the plan is Airwolf heads the 340 has a slightly bigger bore and is gonna help a bit more with the high flowing 2.08 valves and the little less friction with the smaller main can't hurt..
