Today my temp gauge went alittle about 3/4's of the way up so i got home i have the little red tab on my radiator cap to let out pressure so i let it all out in the process i notice a little NOT ALOT of smoke coming out near the exahust manifold then i noticed this

never open a i hot radiator unless you want to spend time in a burn unit.

I was working on a dang old toyota when it happened to me, the thing overheated so I thought I would loosen the cap to the first notch. But it was already there. swoosh scalding hot water up the sleeve of my coverall I ran over to the hose and sprayed cold water up my sleeve for a couple of minuets. Second degree burns from my wrist up to the inside of my elbow. LESSON LEARNED.:-D
 
BTW, letting the pressure out is a fast way to loose coolant and have hot-spots in the block. Pressure keeps the water from boiling. If it boils, you get air pockets and it can push out coolant if it'sa non-recovery system.
