Will a 318 from a 73 barracuda drop in a 71 Plymouth Scamp?

Thinking about throwing a running 318/904 combo out of an e-body into my a-body that came originally with a 318/904. Anyone know if the oil pan, headers, and such will "just drop in"? I'm assuming I'll have to run exhaust either way so no biggie there. I really just want something to take my roller from having to push it around to drive it around when I need to move it while I restore it. I'm assuming the 904 shouldn't be a problem unless maybe there were different splines on the output shaft.

I don't think there is any difference, I've put a 318 from a Volare and a Gran Fury into a Dart with no issues. As long as the oil pan is the same, mounts might be different, but if you have the ones from your Scamp just use them.

I had a brainstorm and looked up the oil pickup tube on RockAuto hoping that would indicate the oil pans being compatable because they didn't have oil pans. Holy cow the same part was used across quite a few cars. So I'm hopeful. I can certainly handle motor mounts and the such. Part: MELLING 72S2

Driver's side exhaust manifold COULD be an issue, depending if your Scamp is power steering or not. Use A body manifolds if you still have them.

Yeah it's a bolt in swap. Possible exhaust mannyfold difference, but it'll bolt right in. I think the A body takes different mounts, though.

You would have to change the head lights for that engine to fit into an a-body....

I know this is my first Scamp restoration project (my 4th a-body) but...

THAT'S HILARIOUS! - I'll make sure I change over the head lights to them LED ones to lighten up the front end to make it faster and to give enough clearance. :) Love your avatar picture krazykuda!

The differences that come to mind other than the LH exhaust manifold and motor mounts as mentioned....point vs electronic distributor, EGR vs non-EGR intake, possible brackets and pulleys A/C vs non-A/C, P/S vs non-P/S, and smog stuff like breathers, choke, and carb features. Most can be swapped over year to year and are unimportant if you don't need a smog inspection or having some items hooked up properly.
