Hey FABO,

I have read through the threads and have come to the conclusion that a 275 tire will fit on 4 1/8" bs 15x8 IF the rear is high enough. My question is I want to go with the Wheel Vintiques 15x8 series steel wheel in a 4" BS and a Polyglas GT L60-15 in the rear (28" tall) essentially the same dimensions as a 275/60r15 radial. The car has higher lift springs but in the stock location. What are your thoughts on the outside lip fitment here? Will it rub?

Car is a '71 Demon with an 8.75" standard location A-body rear with a SBP for reference.

We put 15 by 8s with 275/60r15 in the kids 73 Duster. I can't remember what the BS was though sorry......

Not sure about L-60 15's but heres a pic of L-60 14' on a Crager ss 14x 8 wheel.
Definitely a little too wide as they would hit the wheel lip . Air shocks helped though as I raised the car to clear.

15x8 large 4 1/2 bolt circle with 4 1/2 back space 275/60x15 tire on this car with strange big bolt axles. If you have redrilled small bolt axles you will need a 1/4 inch spacer with 4 1/2 back space large bolt wheels. If you have aftermarket big bolt axles they will fit with 4 1/2 Back space.

what is the color on the car . I like it.

L-60's fit on 8" wheels perfect. They look goofy on 10" wide. N-50's are better there. Wow that's from back in the day (late 70's)

These are L60-14 on 14x7 wheel. Believe they were 3.5” backspace. They would kiss the quarter lip until I installed the S/S springs.

in my experience;
as to Polyglass tires;
>have terrible traction, even with slapper-bars. They were short-time-on the-market for a reason.
>They also have a wider footprint than a radial, and so will contact the fender-lip sooner than radial which rolls over.
>they are heavy, and on a steel wheel will ride HARD, like a tank,hard.
>wait until you have to change lanes in a hurry on the PGs; you will be plowing into curbs on a regular basis, and or spinning out.
This has been my experience.

The Duster tubs (about same as on my 68 Barracuda,) will accept 295/50-15 Radials on 10" wheels (at 24psi for long life), easy enough.
>I highly recommend alloy wheels, offset springs, and a narrowed-to-fit any standard 4.5bs wheel, into, that is to say; inside of, the stock tubs..
>Size for size steel Rally wheels weigh about double of alloys.
>295 BFG/Coopers on 10s only have traction until you cook them, or for the duration of the first summer whichever comes first; then they are still better than the Ls. But they can still go five or more years on the street and drift very predictably with no sudden surprises. And they have a pretty good sideways patch, for those times you come into a turn just a lil too hot; just toe the clutch or feather the throttle and let the tires get back to roadspeed.
Coming in too hot on the L60s; they will just skate and skate... until they or the car, bounces off something.
Mind you, the last time I was on PGs was about 1977..............

I love your car! I want to do this same thing on my 71 Demon. Please let me know what you decide and how it fits. I'd also love to know what size fronts(tire and wheel) you go with and see pics.

Thanks!
