Ok, this is my last "help me" post of the day ... I promise. The plastic rivet that held the window to the track on my left front window ('67 Dart 270) gave out just as I bought the car. I got a new one yesterday and have inserted it into the proper holes. Now ... how do I drive the actual rivet? Is there a special tool I need to have? I've attached pictures -- one of the whole door, one of the front of the rivet, and one of the back.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hum.
I'll be doing a 67 B body soon. IDK that an A body used the same.
But why should that be surprising?
So, I have no experience and my project is completely apart.
The regulators aren't even in the car.
I would assume it just pushes in. But I would support the back in some fashion.
Perhaps a C clamp would fit around it if it requires that much force.
And then you could squeeze it in.

I have used a c clamp also with wood on them just small pieces to keep the pressure down, basically something softer then the clamp itself

Well first of all, your install looks backward to me. The sectioned end that spreads and captures the head of the center pin was originally to the inside of the door. The center pin is knocked in from the outside.
I use a cats claw or similar to pull and hold the assembly toward me while I peck the pin in with a small hammer. That was in the few cases where I could reuse the original fastener. Pulling the original center pin out never works, driving it clear though worked only once in a while.
I usually replace the broken fastener with a bolt, nyloc nut, and a short piece of neoprene fuel hose.
p.s. there was once a felt paper liner in that saddle. Why ? I'm not sure. Isolated, prevented metal to glass contact for some reason.

It is backwards, you drive it in from outside the car and drive it through to push it out
I just installed a new rivet onto my window, but how in the heck do you drive the center pin inward? I pushed with my thumb and it aint moving at all. Do I take a punch and hammer to it? How would I support it from the backside as I hammer it?

Again... A short piece of fuel hose along with a 1/4-20 X 1" bolt and nyloc nut and a flat washer serves the same purpose. Approx' 7 bucks total for the aftermarket replacement through the mail versus 3 bucks at the local hardware store. The nut and bolt is a simpler install too.

RTSpecialties sells them for $5 ea plus $2 shipping. Or buy a few and shipping doesnt increase too much.

iv'e got to replace one of these rivets my self. where do you get these? dave.
Check out auto glass shops in your area. Take a picture (or the broken plastic rivet, if you've still got it) and explain to them that it went in a 19XX MOPAR A-body. Someone there will know what you're talking about.

I got mine for $2 each. Perfect fit and everything.
