Window woes on passenger side

What does this mean:
Passenger side window is a **** to crank down, but easy to crank up? help.

Just a guess here... If the crank handle has a lot of lost motion, Like a long neutral rotation between moving the glass up and moving the glass down, and also the end moves toward and away from the door panel more than 1/8 inch, the drive bearing assembly behind that handle is shot.

Remove your door panel, and check for lubrication, oil/grease all the rollers, and the tracks the rollers ride in. Get some lube on all the pivot points, and the big gear. Work it back, and forth gradually, till You get full travel, oiling it as you go.
It probably has not been lubed since it left the factory, and over the years, the little lube they put on it has dried up. Lots of window problems can be solved by this simple task.

Update and more help. I removed the window regulator, broke the little white plastic "rivet" in the process. Is that a part still avail?

#2: with regulator out of the car, I cleaned, re greased etc... The spring was a little rusty, which I cleaned. I am still concerned that it is too hard to roll the window down. And so very easy to roll it up.

Made me wonder, is it possible that the wound spring is too tight? If I were to updo the spring, let it go 1 rotation backwards, that would give me less tension on the roll down, and also make it a little slower to roll back up?

Here is the pic of the window reg in the all the way up position. You can see that all the way up means least amount of tension, and the spring is still tight to one side? Is that right?

Currently, when it was off the car and I tried to roll the crank down it was firm, but then it would spin back up if i let go of the crank.

what barracudadave67 said is 99 times out of a 100 the culprit. but you could have a worn gear in the crank assembly.

The rivet is still available through Laysons. I bought some through Dave at Laysons,you may want to contact him and see which one that he sent me. There are two different kinds, you want the flatter one. I also had to rig it up with a screw, washers, and a nut so it didn't keep popping out, and it's been fine since...

Unfortunately Dave just posted that he's going out for surgery and will be out for a few weeks...
