Hello again

So I am looking for thoughts/advice on my newest idea.

My motor is a 70's 340 all stock internals, ld 340, headers, holley dp 600cfm, and a purple cam to which I do not know the specs.(this is the part that has bugged me since day one, and the main factor for my winter project idea)

The motor had its bearings done when I got it 8-10000 miles ago.

The first thing that could kill my plan is, is it possible to change cams with the motor in the car?

If it is, then I want to have the spare set of X-heads I have cleaned up, rebuild a 750 DP I have, and get a modern cam that will work best with my set up( recommendations from you guys)

The car is my summer daily driver, its got an overdrive 4 speed, with 3.73's in the back.

any thoughts are appreciated

Thanks!

Shane

yes, the cam can be changed in the car.....radiator will need to come out..

Even if you pull the radiator out, wont you still have clearance issues with the rad support area? and you can get your cam specs with a vaccum guage on the carb, not sure how it's done but there is a way.

Oh, I never knew I could do that with a vaccum gage... I am hoping with the heads done, and a newer grind cam, and bigger carb, that I would be getting a few extra ponies as well...
