Hey everyone, I'm looking into a new wiring harness for my 1974 Duster, my current one is very rough and tore up.

What would be some options, I've seen some on JEGS/Summit for $500-ish, but I feel like that's really overpriced and maybe there was a place everyone went that was significantly less.

The ones I found were:
JC Whitney Keep It Clean: Pro Series

Summit's Painless Preformance

A Slew of "Mopar Wiring Harnesses on FleaBay

Has anyone used any of these ones? How were your results? Did you burn any wires through, etc?

Thanks for the help everyone!

There are a bunch of wiring harnesses in your car. Which one are you talking about? For $500 I would hope you get a full set.

Usually only the under-hood wiring harnesses are bad. The cabin harness wires are usually still good and just have hacks from gomer mechanics and clueless PO's that need cleaning up. In your year, the under-hood harnesses are: engine, lamps, and wiper. The later is short wires just to the wiper, plus a few "this too" circuits. The engine harness varied depending on slant or small block. A big block would be real special or custom.

Your year was split. I sold one new 1974 harness this year on ebay and I recall marked "Oct 1974 and later", or such. It was from M & H, but I think you must buy those thru Year One. I bought several bags thru a liquidator (accidents, bankruptcy) for a good price (sorry you guys missed it) and ebay'ed it after deciding not to use them in my early A's. I was surprised that both sold for close to list price (be happy for me). Perhaps they are also on long back-order so people must fight to get them quick.

I wouldn't fool with the generic "for Mopar, but labelled for GM" harnesses. It is about the same work and much cheaper to make your own. In my avatar you see the 95-99 Jeep fuse/relay box I used in my 64 & 65 A. In one, I used some wires from a 74 Dart harness (mostly lamps). By rolling your own, you can upgrade the factory design and make your car more reliable, w/ relays for headlamps, electric fan, ceramic connectors for headlamps, different ignition, thicker charging wires, etc. The blue box is a "Battery Brain" I put in all my cars, which has saved me from "no start" many times. Winter is coming. Clear space on a big table by the TV and start wiring like I did. Make lots of notes. When the wife fusses, take her out to eat.
