Hi All .

I’ve put my 69 Dart back together after many years it is an originally a 340 car now has a 400 base motor in it. Ignition has a 440 source ready to run distributor with matching coil. When I start the car it starts, but soon as I let the key go to the run position the car stalls any thoughts? The wiring has been all out of the car, but it has been gone through and I think it’s right everything seems to work except for hazards. If I run a jump wire from the starter relay over to the positive side of the coil, it’ll stay running. What am I missing? I’m sure it’s simple but stumping me.

If it has a ballast resistor, sounds like it's bad. If not, then it's not getting the "run" signal. Normally with that type ignition you have to tie IGN1 and IGN2 together. Did you do that?

it has the " factory two wire one i jumped it didn't seem to make a difference

yes that is the distributor. so i need to eliminate the ballist resistor ?

Did you read the instructions? Do you have a factory service manual for your car with a wiring diagram? Here's the distributor instructions.

i did read the instructions , that is how i have it wired but i still have the ballist resister in place

so just eliminate the ballist resistor and connect the two wires together ?

OK, so I have power out of ignition one and an ignition too. Do I just jump one wire between the two to connect them or I’m lost here help
