I might do that. If so I could use some measurements. Diameter of the tube, length of the flat areas, center to center distance of the holes, etc.

Wonder if that was a rust belt factory thing? My L.A. produced car didnt have them and I thought mine was pretty complete when I bought it 10 years out of a warehouse. Still had '76 tags on it! Look like they just flattened some thick wall tubing and bent it.

I think you are pretty close. When the tube was bent drilling was the last thing to do.
