X heads and compatability

I currently have a 340 with x heads custom ross pistons .655 lift solid roller cam with 1.5 harland roller rockers. What i'm wondering is if the Indy X heads are similiar enough to let me run them vs the stock type x heads some pictures of the pistons types. I don't have a part number off the pistons as i didn't build the engine. and if the indy x heads or other styles were ported and all that what kinda benefits could i see vs the stock style x heads that have been ported heavily

Indy X heads are close chamber heads...unless the dome of the piston is made for a close chamber head they will not work...
 
Those "Domed" Pistons will hit the head unless it is an open chambered head like your stock X,J, etc.... or open chambered W2 heads. Excellent head if you can find a set of open chambered W2's.
A well ported set (W2's) & that cam ought to make some serious power. What is the duration @ .050?
 
Sometimes the explanation is a pain to write out. I know, I know.

And ... I might be finally selling my open chambered long stem race W2s /Victor man/Hedman headers since I've given of hope of getting a W2 blower manifold from Australia. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to post them in the next couple of weeks.

269/276 at .050
 
Yeah kinda what i'm thinking now. as is going through traps at 6000 instead of 6700 where i want it runs 12.26. with no subframe connectors having to readjust the fender every pass. That being the car the engine came out of its going in my 69 dart 4speed car
