Right, I understand cast iron welding is almost a lost art but doesn't hurt to try at least

Those early W2 heads were known for cracking, especially the exhaust side near the bolt holes. That's why that head was tossed. I understand the sentiment of using them, but they are scrap. You could clean them up, and paint them, make a cool display with them or something, but you will be making a very costly mistake trying to repair them.
