    Starting 340 Build w/ Supercharger

I did not install the current pistons in the car. The previous owner did that when he did the .030 overbore, back in 1995. I am planning on getting new ones anyways.

    Starting 340 Build w/ Supercharger

Okay, so out with the stroker kit. I'll probably stay at around 6-8 lbs of boost TBH. I do have an 8 3/4 rear, but with 3.93 gears. New forged pistons with H-Beam rods is doable. I was looking into changing out the leaf springs for a spring system, is this what you're talking about when you say...

What other info do you need from me? I'll do my best to get the answer.

    Starting 340 Build w/ Supercharger

Thanks for the very detailed reply AJ. From what I was able to gather from this, I should either stroke it, or supercharge it, but not both? I'm more concerned with keeping it a streeter. The track would be cool to go to every now and then, but not entirely necessary. The reason I want a roots...

    Starting 340 Build w/ Supercharger

Hey Everyone, I should be having some money coming up to start the build I want to do for my 74 Duster. It currently has 1970 340 with a .030 overbore in her. I want to do a 416 stroker kit, EFI since carbs and I don't get along too well, and a roots supercharger. Now, I've never done extensive...

    340 Idles at 3200 RPM!

So I currently have the pump arm in the middle hole for the accelerator pump. I disconnected the throttle cable and started it up. It still idles at about 3000 RPM. I try to set the choke using the fast idle linkage adjustment procedure in the manual, but once i bump the throttle to test that it...

    340 Idles at 3200 RPM!

Would doing that just eliminate/confirm the possibility of it being the throttle cable being too tight? If it eliminates it, should I then move the pump connector rod to the original hole it was in?

    340 Idles at 3200 RPM!

I agree that it's a big jump, but I was going by the rebuild manual. Tbh, I'm fairly new to carbs and what not. Like I said, hopefully relocating the arm will fix it.

I never took that plug out during the rebuild. So it's still connected.

    340 Idles at 3200 RPM!

I was thinking it might be that, but I wanted to check with you guys. I will look into putting it back to where it was after work. The only reason I changed it's location is because on the instructions in the rebuild kit, it had each hole labeled based on the model number of the carb. So I put...

    340 Idles at 3200 RPM!

Hey everyone, So I recently rebuilt my carburetor. I cleaned it out and changed out gaskets. I adjusted the floats as per the Edelbrock Manual (it's a 1407 manual choke btw) and changed out the accelerator pump. Other than those two changes and new fuel filters, everything else is the same. I...

    1974 Duster 340 w/ 727 to A833

Hey everyone. Just another person asking about a transmission swap. There might already be a forum out there for my question(s), but I couldn't find it and figured I'd ask all of you here. So, obviously, I want swap from auto to manual. I currently have a 74 Duster, with a 70 340 and the OG 727...

    Door Jam Rust Damage Advice

I would love to go that in depth with my project, but I don't have a garage as of right now to park the Duster in order to take everything out of it. However, it is in my plan to do so. I will keep this mind tho when I cross that road.

Sweet, I will look into this. Would I basically cut out the old and weld this straight onto the door jamb?

    Door Jam Rust Damage Advice

Hey everyone. I'm not quite sure what this it's called exactly, and I'll post a picture so you can see exactly what I'm talking about, but the part the door grabs onto to stay closed is broken. The part itself seems fine, but the metal where it's attached is broken. Sorry for my poor...

[Found!] 1974 Duster 318 Passenger Upper Control Arm

Hey everyone, so I'm working on replacing all the bushings in the suspension of my Duster, and I had to take some parts in to have the old stuff such as bushings and ball joints pressed out. Turns out, my passenger side UCA got bent in the process. I'm not looking to go Tubular until i can...

340 Leaking Coolant from Header Bolt

Sweet, thank you everyone. I was afraid of having to dish out $500 plus for new heads. My brother and I have both learned something new today.

340 Leaking Coolant from Header Bolt

Hey everyone, So I was working on taking off the headers that I could remove the heads to replace the head gasket and when I removed the bolts on the driver side that hold the headers onto the head, coolant started leaking out of the forward-most and aft-most bolt holes. My brother thinks it...

I emailed Brewer's the day I bought the car ( about a week ago) and haven't heard back yet, which is why I asked on here.

    1974 Duster 727-Auto To A833 4-Speed

Hello everyone, I just joined the forum earlier this week and I've been looking through past threads a I either didn't see the thread pertaining to my particular situation, or I didn't look hard enough. I have a 74 Duster with a 340 and 727 trans as of right now. I want to put in the A833...

Hey everyone, my name is Zachary Cuneo and I just bought my first project car. It's a 1974 Plymouth Duster. Previous owner put a 340 in it with .030 over-bore back in 1995, and a 727-auto with a ratchet shifter. It has 8.25 with 3:91 gears. She runs, but not smoothly...yet. I plan on doing the...
