I Chose the 383 Big Block

I have a set of eight flat top standard bore 4.250 pistons for 383 of course that I took out of my block. They are in good shape and I am willing to let you have them for free if you will just cover the shipping. I will also include the connecting rods with them. They are in good shape. There’s...

I Chose the 383 Big Block

I would hone the block to clean the cylinders up and help the cross hatch. Don’t go hog wild with the hone just a good clean hone.

    Painting, aluminum heads

I am building a 431 from a 383 block and I’m going to put aluminum heads on my motor. My question is about painting the heads, I have read and heard different opinions, so I would like to hear from some people that have done it, or have not.

    Hemi oil pan

I’m putting a big block 383 in my 1967 barracuda. I am reading that you can use a hemi oil pan with my K frame. My question is since the hemi oil pan is 6 quarts. Will I need to put the skid plate on the bottom of the K frame, since this is a deeper oil pan, then a 5 quart

Big Block 383 using SB K Frame 1967

383 stock manifold for 67 Barracuda

thanks yeah I’ve read that headers are probably the only way to go but I was hoping another set of stock manifolds from a different body series would work. This motor I am building it’s gonna look like original 1967. I even went so far as to buy a 1966 dated block built in 1967. It is a C383.
